Reflections Program

Unleash your creativity. Tell your story. Be recognized.

Reflections is a long-standing national arts program that encourages students to explore their creativity and express themselves through the arts. For over 50 years, this program has given millions of students across the country the opportunity to shine in categories like:

  • Dance Choreography

  • Film Production

  • Literature

  • Music Composition

  • Photography

  • Visual Arts

Founded in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, then-president of the Colorado PTA, Reflections has grown into one of the largest student arts recognition programs in the U.S., with more than 200,000 students participating each year.

What makes Reflections unique is its emphasis on positive recognition over competition. Students of all ages and abilities are encouraged to share their unique perspective and find their voice through creative expression—no experience required, just imagination and heart.

Each year, students respond to a theme through their chosen art form. Entries begin at the school level, with the opportunity to be recognized at local, state, and even national levels.

We hope your student will be part of this inspiring tradition. Stay tuned for this year’s theme and submission deadlines!

How to Participate

The Reflections program is open to all Texas students who meet the necessary requirements below:
  • Students must attend a school with a Local PTA/PTSA that achieves Active Status no later than October 31, or students must attend a school which is defined within the service area of a community-based Local PTA/PTSA which achieves Active Status no later than October 31; and

  • The student or at least one person from their primary household must be a current member of the Local PTA/PTSA where the student is participating. Each Local PTA/PTSA may determine a date by which the member must join.
